Switching to Metal 2.0 crashes the editor before it loads

I recently tried importing my project onto a macbook pro. When the editor loaded, I noticed that none of my materials were working. According to this page, I had to change my Max Metal Shader Standard To Target to Metalv2.0. When I tried this, the splash screen for the editor would get stuck at 35% for a while and crash. I am using MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 and Xcode 10.2.1. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
