Switch on EPhysical Surface is returning Default randomly on line trace for footsteps. Any fixes?

Hello everyone, I’m having a little nightmare here with trying to set up footstep sounds for my character based on what Physical Material they’re walking/running/etc. on.

I am using a modified version of ALSv4 (ATS by MD6) and everything seems to be set up properly, but for some reason my Line Trace keeps randomly returning a Default value. I tried all sorts of Start/End points for the trace, but it never fixed it, only lessened the amount of times it happened. The ringing sound in the attached video is my “debug” sound. The recognition of Physical Materials clearly works as intended (see video with volume on), and the trace is definitely hitting (I tried with nothing in Default output), so I’m kind of lost on this one.

Any guidance or advice on how to fix this frustrating issue would be greatly appreciated!

[SOLVED IT]

I had to plug “Get Owner” into “Actors to Ignore” because apparently the character was hitting it’s owners mesh…somehow.
