As this is not something that I can manage to reproduce, I’ve placed a feature request in for this instead of a bug report. The feature request is to add an option to cancel that process as you mentioned. It was entered under the number UE-46694.
SVN update (on saving) got stuck on “updating status” due to a network issue. As there’s no option to cancel this state inside the editor, after some ten minutes of waiting I had to ctrl-alt-del and force close the editor, leading to loss of data.
I believe there should be a way to cancel the update in these situations and at least save the data offline.
Thank you very much Matthew. I hope this gets resolved in the upcoming versions. It’s a bit mind boggling that a feature made to prevent data loss among other things leads to one instead.
