I noticed that it's not possible to paint grass with custom quixel grass models currently. Are there plans to support this in the future?
Also, painting of the "detailed grass" models does not seem to be supported. The larger grass models are a bit to big to create a straight line of grass for our line of work. I know we can use the vegetation scatter for detailed grass but that takes forever to make it dense as our grass surfaces are very big. An option to allow for more density on larger surfaces would be very useful.
We are aware of the issue regarding Quixel assets and its inability to use vegetation paint feature on top of them. It is in our horizon to fix it.
Meanwhile, there is a work around:
Download an Quixel asset
Place it in the scene (you can't paint on this asset)
Duplicate asset (Shift+drag or copy+paste instance)
You now can paint over copy
Vegetation paint cannot be used for "detailed grass". It is necessary to use Vegetation Scatter. It will have a similar result and it is applied to the entirety of the selected geometry.
Here is a quick video explaining how to use the Vegetation Scatter feature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hgAqsxngH8
