There should be a no questions asked return window (7 days) for assets that use false advertising.
Reviews should have context. If you’re going to prevent us from leaving written reviews, at the very least you should be able to see a breakdown of how an asset got its current rating. Ala Amazon, you should see an asset has seven 5-star reviews and one 1-star review, not that it has a total score of 4.5 stars. It’s misleading.
Bring back the option to ask questions. If you’re not allowing assets to be returned, then we should have the option to ask questions about what we are about to purchase.
Assets that have not been updated to the latest version, or have not been updated in more than 1 year should be banned from participating in sales.
Extraneous tags should be removed. Why are there multiple “Animation” tags on fab? It makes finding what you want to purchase, or what you have already purchased impossible. Sellers should not be allowed to create their own tags, simply chose from a list of available tags. Filtering to Environments for example, should not make level assets disappear!
Also the literal string search is still not working. I understand people might be doing a lot behind the scenes, but this is literally 5 minutes work. Even with recent assets, we see
There are also other well known packages with these keywords which are not showing up at all…
EDIT: I stand corrected on this to some extent. It turns out that if you search and the sort by ‘relevance’ ( sort of obvious, but not the default ), it works…
Yeah, so far Fab is literally a dumpster of AI-generated content, models stolen from other games, models based on copyrighted IP i.e Star Wars, and poor quality assets trashing the store. Its not a professional and a safe asset store you can trust anymore, there is no moderation and no guarantee that you won’t get DMCA-ed if you use assets bought on fab, its a buy on your own risk. Also no ability to add reviews or ask questions, no option to warn others of problems, no option go even report copyright violation unless you are the copyright holder. Marketplace was much better. Not speaking of how poorly Fab is integrated with Launcher.
Yeah, that’s because they merged everything on Sketchfab over, and Sketchfab wasn’t orginally meant to be a place to purchase models. That part of it doesn’t bother me so much because it’s pretty easy to spot the crap, but the second Epic announced its plans to merge everything I knew it was all going to poo.
If it wasn’t nigh impossible to filter the content, it wouldn’t be so bad. I don’t know what Epic was thinking TBH. They’ve made some weird choices in the last few years.
