Suggestion: World Outliner: Option to keep folders collapsed instead of auto-expanding when something is selected

Absolutely insane that this simple fix is still not addressed.

I quite agree. I don’t want the selected item to unfold a folder when I select it.

Agree, it need to be as custom option when is needed. I know we have the Ctrl+Arrow to expand or close all hierarchy, But will be great to stop auto expand for each time we copy, parenting or add new things to the BluePrint or Browser.

Thanks!
Best!

Same extremely annoying behaviour with blueprint components list expanding on every compile.
Pleeease fix!

And nine years later Epic creates amazing things like Ninite and Megalights, but they can’t implement this simple option? Weird…

Most likely they just don’t care.

Can we please promote this issue?

This has got to be a really simple quality of life improvement that will benefit everyone.

Just keep nested items in the outliner collapsed unless they are expanded.

The behavior of expanding the outliner every time a nested actor is selected in the viewport is not really helpful for most use-cases. If I were needing to find it in the outliner, I wouldn’t have selected it in the viewport. If I want to find things that are not readily visible in the viewport, then I need an organized outliner. Expanding nested lists, by default is the inverse of helpful.

Just make it a preference or something.

Thanks!

I came here looking for a solution - I am quite surprised there isn’t ANY response from Epic even though this post has been going on for almost 10 years… 10 years! And this is a really, really annoying issue. I lose so much precious time folding and partly unfolding and scrolling back to where I was - and now that Fab is here, there is so much more content that isn’t optimised at all for Unreal - so there is even more need for a possibility to organise and structure in both components view and hierarchy. Where do I sign for this, like honestly, how do we get Epic to listen?
