Suggestion Feat (Animation only): Light-version of UE (such potential of effectivity..)

Hi,

As beginner for basic sci-fi animation (and i suppose Epic Games target this need/customers : indies, creatives, etc), a suggestion that has sense from my own pov off course : two versions of UE, with something as :

  • Unreal Engine X.ZZ
  • Unreal Engine X.ZZ Extended

Why ?
For basic need for animation, around more than 80% of buttons/fields/check-box/etc. are useless, so it has disadvantages see brakes.
For me as eg : so much “informations” to learn, to remember, to sort out what I need and what I don’t…
As a result :

  • waste of time
  • discouraging
  • loss of productivity
  • shortfall for Epic
  • etc.

Why not a version with first necessity needs functions (animation-vfx-compositing…) ?

  • viewport, lights, 3d etc all basics
  • Eg : Chromakey Plane (adding a “Vfx” section in Panel actor ?) in two clicks, rather than such a complex and long process with Composure ; you drag the Plane in VP, link a Vid, one click chroma selec in Detail and that’s it you get the “actor” in the environment, rotate the Plane or the cam position… easy and fast ans so much more spontaneous, no ? Isn’t it a main huge function need in Vfx animation ? Also why not without chroma as with new DVR magic selection in Plane…

In fact, personnaly, would love this. I’m not noob with all of this but it is still somehow discouraging (a little disappointed with the promise of UE that I had made to myself, for basic animations & Vfx…)

As suggested alternative (Vs two versions), in all panels (Details…) :

  1. “First needs” basics functions by default,
  2. With a [ More… ] button deploying all 80% functions if needed.

Btw, nothing to do with this but an eg : texture displacement. Why also there such a long process with BP obligated to get it ? I mean : EVERYBODY WANTS MORE REALISM, no ? It should be by default with all materials with a single level button (for “height”…), no ?
Even more : displacement should be by default on 100% when dragging an MT_, and those who want less just have to drag down the level and that’s it.

As beginner in UE, non noob with softs (not master also), intending to use UE for indie Sci-fi animation, with a lot od ideas, if Epic is takers of suggestions I can draw up a list of prepositions (illustrated…) as I go along with great pleasure; in doubt that it is of interest, I will refrain from wasting time of course.

Hope english write + traduciton isn’t too bad.

Eric
