Substrate materials Shading Model greyed out

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me why the Shading Model is greyed out in the substrate materials.
I’d like to assign a Subsurface Profile to my material, but I can’t. Dragging one over the Subsurface profile slot doesn’t do anything, and I suspect it’s to do with the fact that is greyed out in the material details.
Somewhat related to this, the Transmission attribute in the light details is also greyed out.

For reference, I’m using 5.5 with Lumen and ray tracing enabled.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

I’m having the same condition. I think substrate set certain setting by itself according to the node we place and plug in. In my case I was following this tutorial on Substrate, and I noticed that the root node had ‘opaque’ and ‘default lit’ (19:29) in the details panel, and when values for SSS MFP and SSS Anisotropy were plugged in, I noticed it had changed to ‘Opaque’ and ‘Subsurface profile’. (21:15) I’m still not sure greying it out is desired behavior.
