Substance Painter: real-time creativity

Hello,

We’ve just posted a video that shows some real-time features that can be applied with Substance Painter using Substance Effects and Particle Brushes when creating textures. Substance Painter is a premiere tool for creating physically-based textures for UE4.

Cheers,

Heck, I really must take a look at implementing this into my workflow. Been hearing good things, but have yet to take the plunge. Guess now that there’s an official date, I’ll make a move on that!

Great! Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Does Painter work with high resolution models? Meaning they aren’t using normal maps for the details. I know Quixel uses the normal maps to figure out where the corners and stuff are on the model to be able to add weathering there, but that doesn’t work if your details are modeled.

Yes, you can work with higher resolution models. The filters require a map to find corners as well. However, you can also paint the information directly if you don’t have any maps. For instance, using particle brushes can work based on mesh normals as well as detail in the normal map.
