Hi everybody, I’m a student, and I’m from Vietnam.
Two years ago when i first read about Unreal Engine 4 and the videos featured the demos of UE4, I was really exited. To think that the program of the pros all over the world now released and can be use by any person. But yet the price of 19$/month is big enough to get my hyped-learning-spirit away. So later on, when I heard about Epic Games is going to release the engine for free if use in educational purpose, I’m really happy knowing these dev guys from Epic Games is so kind & generous. Then yet, i was frustrated again, when I found out that there is no way for me to prove that I’m a student and get to use this for free to learn. I’m from Vietnam, and this whole “universities-games development-educational purpose” things is NOT CURRENTLY AN APPROVED SUBJECT in any university and college we have in our country. In facts, the gaming developing industry in our country is still a new concept, and as a mentioned above, no school, no teachers, no course,…etc. (You get what i’m saying, right?).
So I want to ask if there is any way I can do to prove that I’m a students and get to use the engine for free to study? What can I do, where can I get help? Will my dream fade away LOL just a fun line xD???
I don’t know what to do. Please help me in any way you can think of. I’m free and open to any concept, ideas, advices and suggestions…
This is more a Github related question, because Github gives away the Studentpack.
You only need YOUR OWN university email. So not the one of the university, but your personal one. Normaly you should get your own when you study. If you register for the Studentpack, you have to sign in with that email (or add it to the emails your is using). You get a link to the email to prove that it’s yours. After that you just need to tell them for what you will use the pack.
I’m studying Math and IT in germany and i guess i will be able to get this pack too. Though i’m still waiting for it since a month. Just try it. I don’t think it will fail (:
Thanks for helping me. I just check out the Student Pack that you mentioned above so… what is a school-issued email? Can i register the pack if i don’t have one?
No, the email is the prove that you are a student. Normaly every student has this. This should be nothing related to the “Gaming is new to our country” issue. It can be, that in single cases, Github asks your University if you really need the Studentpack. But in most cases they won’t do this i guess.
Let me know if you get ever get that Studentpack xD. I’m sending my registration for the pack now. Hopefully it doesn’t take GitHub too long to verify it. Btw, i’m studying Math and IT too in Ho Chi Minh city xD
Yeah good luck. Mine is still in waiting position. I already mailed Github. They said that they have too much to do and they are sorry that i must wait so long.
