Subject: Clarification on Fab Standard License Usage for Shared Projects and Commercial Outputs Hello,

Hello

I would like to ask for clarification regarding the use of assets under the Fab Standard License in several practical scenarios. I want to ensure that my usage fully complies with the license terms.

1. Use of Rendered Images for a Manga Background (Commercial Use)

I am considering purchasing a 3D city asset from Fab. I plan to use this asset to build a city environment. Some parts of the asset may remain unmodified.

A family member of mine, who is a manga artist, has requested background images of this city. I would render images from my scene (for example, applying black-and-white or toon-style rendering) and provide those images to the artist.

The manga artist would then use these rendered images as backgrounds in their manga, which is commercially monetized.

Question:
Is providing rendered images (PNG/JPG) for this purpose, and allowing the manga artist to use them commercially, permitted under the Fab Standard License?

2. Sharing Project Data with a Collaborator Who Has Not Purchased the Asset

The same manga artist is also helping me as a collaborator on a game development project, where I am building a city using the Fab asset.

The artist would like to use this same environment to generate their own background images directly (e.g., by accessing the project via Git and rendering scenes themselves). However, they have not purchased the asset.

Questions:

  • Is it prohibited to share project data (including the asset) with them for this purpose if they have not purchased the asset?

  • If they want to use the asset independently for their own commercial manga work, is it sufficient for them to purchase the same asset separately?

3. Both Parties Purchase the Same Asset and Work Together, but Use Outputs Separately

In another scenario, both the manga artist and I independently purchase the same 3D asset.

We then collaborate on building a city within a shared project. However, our end goals are different:

  • I use the project for game development.

  • The manga artist uses it to create background images for their manga (a separate commercial project).

Question:
If both parties own valid licenses for the same asset, is it permitted to:

  • Work together on a shared project, and

  • Use the resulting work separately for different commercial purposes (game vs. manga)?

I would greatly appreciate clarification on these scenarios to ensure full compliance with the Fab Standard License.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,
