Hey im not able to load my project since switching to 4.21, engine gets stuck at 45%.
My windows account is admin,
I am running the launcher as admin,
I tried deleting ‘Derive Data Cache’,
I disabled firewall and antivirus,
I tried waiting 6 hours on a 7770k.
The shader compile tasks start in task manager, then stop after a few seconds and processor activity drops to 16%
Last couple of lines of the log:
0]LogMaterial: Display: Missing cached shader map for material
WorldGridMaterial, compiling. Is special engine material.
Please help, this happens every time a new version comes out and I have no idea why
you could deleted your “binary, Intermediate, and save” files, then generate the project files again, and compile in VS. If you didn’t make a c++ project, then just delete then “intermediate and save files” then relaunch the project. This will force a recompile of everything.
Exact same problem with me. It stuck on 45% and no Shader compile task in manager. I never had this problem before.
I tried everything listed above but no success . Doy you think this had to do with Windows SP packs?

I got it working but I have no idea how, ill just list off things I did in case it helps someone:
I turned off all antivirus software,
turned off windows firewall,
disabled my ethernet port,
created a new blank project just to see if the engine was even working,
went to C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_4.21\Engine\Binaries\Win64 and changed every .exe to run as admin,
I deleted and rebuilt the project from a 4.20 version.
I really hope we find out what is actually causing this because there are so many posts on it with no idea. Best guess is, it is windows thinking its smarter than it actually is and blocking things as per
Ah, antivirus
worthless things to be honest, those things will stop process that appear to be hogging down resources, they will kill projects that are made in VS, and are far to jumpy in general,
Just to undo the other stuff, but kill the antivirus stuff.
