Struggling with Direct link from Sketch up pro 22 into Twinmotion 2023 on a Mac

I use SU pro 22 to design stage and TV sets. Ive been traditionally using Cinema 4D to produce reasonable renders but am moving to Twinmotion. Im finding it imposable to get the direct link importer to work. Ive followed all the tutorials i can find, both Unreal and 3rd party so think i have covered everything. When i try to import via the direct link tab, I just get the message "No source available" Ive installed the Datasmith plugin for SU and the toolbar is there. Ive deleated both SU and TM and reinstalled. The instaslation created the "Twinmotion2023.1" folder in finder and the direct link tab in settings is pointing to that folder. Ive tried TM 22. Ive also tried various versions of Datasmith. I can export from SU as a datasmith file and its fine and also open as an OBJ file. I have tried with various SU projects open and still no connection. It just seems like TM cant see what is open in SU, but no tutorial says anything about setting any sort of search path?

Im now out of ideas. I know it works, so i must be missing somthing. Any thoughts would be appriciated. :)

Hi ,

For a Direct Link source to be detected by Twinmotion, you need to have SketchUp open to the model you want to import so that the plugin can send Twinmotion the information needed to establish a Direct Link. If SketchUp isn't open, then the plugin can't send any information to Twinmotion since it isn't running.

This is an older tutorial, so the UI won't be the same, but the same general process applies: https://youtu.be/tqGTmEULx_4
