Striving for Photorealism in UE4

Could you please do a tutorial for your landscape material oder post scrrenshots? Your tutorial about foliage was super userful. So if you could walk us through the basics of your terrain creation and landscape material process I would appreciate that.

Hello !

I’m sharing with you my new work that i hae done for EkstraReality :

Hi guys. I have reproduced the material with which creates the landscape in the video of Quixel Megascans.

I would like a little help to finish it from if it can be or another person who knows how to solve two missing functions.
WS_Variation and Height_Mask

I attach two compositions but I think they are not right.

Where are trees from?

These are some out of the world top notch graphics. Jawline maximized.

A few shots from a recent set of scenes done for an April Fools music video.

Working on a lot of new scenes, will be posting new shots and some tutorial snippets in the coming months.

Amazing work! I’ve been scrolling through every page of this thread and noticed on some of the posts you mentioned Quixel and that you were working on a tutorial for them. Been learning all of this from scratch for the past two months through YouTube videos, still a noob at this, and it hit me…I have to have to seen one of your tutorials since all I do is think about materials 24/7 these days  Sure enough about a month ago I watched your “Create a Photorealistic World in UE4” tutorial for the first time and I’ve watched it countless times. I just figured out how to send materials I create in Mixer over to Bridge and it’s been a big help in my materials overall. BUT the actual setting up of landscape materials are my kryptonite right now in UE4. My materials look beautiful to me in Mixer but I can never get the setup right on UE4 based on auto-landscape material tutorials I’ve come across. Crossing my fingers that you come out with a landscape material tutorial soon! The material in that video is insane. Been trying to replicate it with 0 success :stuck_out_tongue:

If anybody is wondering this is the tutorial I’m talking about:

New music video created entirely with UE4! Took about 2 months to make but was a great learning experience.

Beautiful work! The lighting is spectacular. =)

You’ve done an amazing job. Coupled with amazing lighting and that sprint animation @ 0:44 had me replay it several times. Bravo!

Hahaha…man this is sooo cool!

The beginning of the song and clip reminds me quite a loooot of this one

Worked on some of the shots in this cinematic alongside the extremely talented team at Quixel and SideFX!

Jaw dropped during the Epic livestream, awesome work once again !

Made a follow up to Crab Rave exactly one year after its release: It’s a 3rd person crab shooter!

Here’s the trailer:

Mind sharing what approach you use for the water? Looks very realistic. Cheers.

Thanks! For the water it’s a mix of

  • Top flat plane layer which is a translucent material with some panning normals (4 way chaos), fresnel tinting and some caustics with uv distortion put into the color

  • Bottom opaque layer which is with caustics also being uv distorted by a panning texture and the r g and b channels offset slightly for the colors. That coupled with the distortion that refraction adds and other tints based on depth and distance brings it all together!

Could you post a screenshot? Thanks Broin! Currently using the Ocean plugin which has literally hundreds of settings, so I rather use something more simple, easier if possible.

Very well deserved congrats!

Congratulations, that whole shot is just perfect!

I tried to copy the whole material. There are a lot of mistakes here, i dont know how to fix them since ive been learning ue4 for only a month. If someone wants, i can send the project files.

Here`s my version of this material:

(thanks to @freevisio for his screenshots and sorry for bad english)
