I get these strange squares when importing an alpha texture for masking materials on a landscape. There is no artifact on the png file but these big pixels appear on the landscape. I am very new to landscape materials. What could be causing this? I used Gaea to make both the landscape and the alpha masks i’m using.
thanks in advance!

When I got those, it was because of a lack of RAM (not VRAM, just regular memory).
How much RAM/Memory do you have?
16GB which I know is not enough. Never thought it was a memory issue though, that’s crazy. Anything I can do besides upgrading? I’m currently waiting on my company to send me a new PC.
The only thing you can do is greatly lower the scalability settings.
16 is not enough, correct.
32 is the BARE minimum.
64+ is recommended.
Unreal will easily gobble 20GB the moment you open it, and another 5-10 once you start adding assets. It’s aggressive.
This is your issue. Good luck!
thank you so much!
