Hello everyone . After importing project from 3DS max by datasmith, strange flickering shadows appeared on meshes, I found out that this is so-called Z Fighting (if my research is correct)) but I cant solve this problem. Bellow is a screenshots yhat shows the problem. Iam newbie in UE and would be grateful if someone could help me.
Hey there @anonymous_user_c0095041! Welcome to the community! This could be a number of things. Sometimes it’s benign, but we’ll look through each possibility.
So if it is Z fighting (which is when there’s 2 faces coplanar on top of each other) you can go into your 3D program of choice and merge verts by distance. Since you’re using 3DS max I’ll leave their documentation for that in a link below since I’ve only used Maya from Autodesk.
Can we see the polygons? Often there’s normal issues and things that can cause this.
Alternatively, if it’s just a bit blotchy and you’re using Lumen, we may need to adjust the settings there.
What shading/lighting model are you using? Are you using baked or Dynamic lighting? These meshes aren’t nanite right? This could also be a lightmapping issue.
