strange blue surface created after retexturing, with transparency in the texture

First reconstruction of my model was fine.

Then I did some local area Simplify and Smooth operations, and cut out some spiky areas.

Then also Check Integrity, Check Model Clean Model.

Then I had to retexture the model

Then, strange large blue surfaces were created. Watching the model in Solid didn’t show them. But when exporting the model into FBX and importing the FBX in Lumion, they were there.

Am I doing something wrong? or is this a bug?

I can share my whole project if you want (it’s 2GB).

Blue is usually the back of the mesh - you can also change that color.

Thanks, Götz. I managed to delete these surfaces by doing a Select Large Surfaces operation.

Every time I do a Clean Model operation, new, different large blue surfaces get created…But it’s easy to get rid of them this way.

I still think this is a bug, not all new users will understand what’t going on and how they should fix it.

Hi Pjotr,

I think there are two different issues here.

The first one is the blue - that’s not a bug but the back-colour of a trinangle.

If, for whatever reason, additional geometry is created during your modification steps, then I think this could be a bug.

Hello Pjotr,

when you run the Clean model, RC tries to remove topology defects and close holes. Is it possible that the additional geometry is created in the palces where the hole have been?
