STOP draining my C drive!

Then contact the support team of unrealengine
if they are unreal that dosn’t mean they can do anything real
btw backup ur data if there is anything important in ur device
there may be chance of a virus over there

Is there any way to have this purely run on a drive other then the main OS drive? Why does portion of the cache data install to C drive, it’s taking up space in two locations, I don’t want anything installed to main system drive, specially cache files, this effects PLUGINS like the DAZ3D bridge, for some reason even tho i have both editors installed on D drive Unreal is caching all my data on C drive causes this massive use of space for items ported into Unreal, it’s a huge space hog taking up large amounts of space on both drives, after i have specifically nominated to install everything to d drive its taking up more space on my smaller OS drive which causes slow down, the OS drive should be free of clutter to keep main operations running at full spec or it slows the entire system down, i want all my storage and installed programs on D drive only needed OS functions and some links to shortcuts should be on C drive, why is this using space on the c drive to store cache data, it stores it twice on c drive for both editors gulping up massive amounts of space making it entirely useless to use Unreal, i do not want everything stored on one large drive, this is done incase of hd failure. I find this annoying because even tho i have nominated it to install on another drive it’s still using up huge space on my main OS drive.
To put it into perspective one character ported into Unreal costs me near 3 to 4 times the space when you count the double up costs on both drives.

I got the same question but got no answers, the binary folder keeps growing the cache folders, I erase the chache folder and in a few hours it’s back with gigs of useless data that I don’t use. The binary folder grows big also taking all my drive, I can’t delete binaries from there even if I don’t use them, it will cause the editor not to start, any way to get rid of old binary data that I don’t use without causing problems, so the binary files I think make the cache, adds to the cache and to the intermediary folder. I have yet to find out how to get rid of bin files that I don’t use, they just stalk there and build up on my hard drive.

Yes it’s an issue, Unreal & daz will cache to C drive even if you have installed everything to another drive location, So anything ported using the bridge will use cache space main system drive on C where the operating system is, also Epic Vault folder on C will cache all your vault programs so don’t install everything in your vault.
It will cache one version in C then it will also install a version into whatever project location your working from.
Say you have 5 projects and you have installed the same file from the vault in each project the space will take up more room on your storage location as the same file is taking up space in five areas on that drive while the main file where those are all copied and connected too sits in main system drive c drive…
If i knew this i wouldn’t of chosen to have a small C drive as a system drive.
Most cases D drive will hold all install files for games & other programs so it’s never an issue having the small main system drive for windows OS only to make things quicker for the OS to access files but when using editors like Unreal & Daz3d they use cache on main system drives when porting and storage project files.

So you have to watch you’re weight so to speak and not install too many projects.

Also when you erase the cache files all it will do is when you reload the project that was using the cache it will then take ages to recache all the shaders and files so the project will take longer to load in the first time you open it as it’s taking up that space again on C drive for because it’s remembering all the information you deleted.

Caches is there to recall files quicker basically like a capacitor storing energy ready for start up. it will save on startup costs but does nothing for running costs.

Hi peeps… Do we have any updates from the developers relating to any amendments to this issue? I was under the impression that this dual existence between specified location and the appdata/roaming/Bridge-Bifrost for Quixel downloads had been flagged to them. With a half filled OS dedicated 256Gb C drive, this will seriously curtail my (and doubtless many other users) capacity to use this program to its potential.
