So I’ve seen a few posts about this from years ago… figured I wouldn’t necro.
Basically, what the title says;
I’m wondering if there’s some underlying reasons why we can not access the stencil buffer in masked materials?
Translucent materials just don’t work well with concave/hollowed out objects.

I asked in UDN about how to modify the source code, it seems to be possible, aside the small hiccup in performance. I was checking the code but I got another priorities, it will be cool to have it implemented in UE vanilla. Plus the fact I will not have to burn my eyebrows reading the thing haha.
I agree I wish they consider the petition for future.
