Steam sockets combined with VOIPtalker = bad packet loss

Yeah so the problem is my VOIP sounds great without steam sockets but with steam sockets it causes really bad packet loss leading to bad sounding VOIP as well as player lag/teleporting. I emulated it with artificial packet loss and it’s around 20-30 packet loss. When the mic is off, there isn’t any visible artifacts. It’s only when talking in the mic.

I have tried setting net speeds and such in ini’s but nothing is working. Is this just a byproduct of steam sockets? What is causing VOIP to packet drop this badly with steam sockets?
