is there a difference between the two? both are huge downloads so I want to know which to get
If i’m not mistaken you steam download won’t work. Most everything i have seen was people saying that still had to download the ark kit.
The difference between the two is that the steam DevKit - which will still work you can just edit the bat file to stop the check - is no longer updated and hasn’t been for months.
Save yourself any hassle and just get it from the Epic Games Launcher.

I also had to go for the Epic Games Launcher version…the other version never worked for me.
Still trying to get this removed from Steam. In the meantime, please spread the word. UE4 is the only way to go
