steam app id not working with own App ID

Hello

I have my project working fine with app id 480 but when i use my own app id i can not even get the steam overlay to work i had no trouble at all with my first game i have looked over every form I can and tried everything. I have even tried it in a blank new project app id 480 works but my own app id simply will not work.

Has anyone had this issue i have contacted steam support but i still haven’t heard back from them I have already waste 2 days on this now.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank Joanne Draydur Studio

Apparently ( I answered on like this a couple of years ago, but can’t remember ), the overlay and a lot of other stuff won’t work until your game is released. At least, that’s what I found.

So, overlay will work for 480, but not your app ID, until release.

I don’t remember it being like this with my first game how are we suppose to test our own achievements I am just downloading the latest version of UE5 to see if its same with that but if anyone has come across this lately any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks Joanne.

I seem to recall achievements worked, but not the overlay?

Ok i will try it and get back.

No it doesn’t work at all its not creating session to join or achievements.

I was just reading some support articles. Apparently you have to build the game with your app id, and upload it to steam, and launch it from there ( or a version you downloaded from there I guess ). Does that make sense?

( so it’s not released, but you still need to upload it, and have it in your steam library ).

That’s what I was thinking i am on with sorting a shipping build now and i will upload to steam to test.
