Static mesh appears black when material added

Hi everyone!

I followed a tutorial on YouTube to create a desert landscape (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vDnDErh_2Q&list=PLhlDHJpnPTG9JUexczgSc4IF4tVzihyS3&index=1) and that all went smoothly. The trouble I’m having now is that I want to use the same material that I used on the floor, on this mesh of a sand wave I created in Blender.

I am a complete noob to UE5, and Blender for that matter, this is my first project using either. Within the tutorial I followed, there were some changes made to the material that I used for the sand, which might be causing the problem? The material preview is all black, and the object turns black when I add the material to it.

Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

[I tried uploading screenshots of the landscape, model and parent material nodes bit, but apparently new users can’t add attachments, sorry!]

You would need to bake the output maps from Blender to Unreal. If you are using nodes to generate the specific maps for the material slots

  • Color
  • Normal Map
  • Displacement
  • Bump
  • Specular
  • Metal

Blenders nodes will not translate directly into an unreal material
