Stat engine mesh tris count

I basically have a simple scene containing one big 6.500.000 triangle StaticMesh in the middle (big CAD import as one asset). Everything beside the main object is together 1000 another triangles. The console command “stat engine” show me over 111.000.000 tris on average under “Static mesh tris”. On looking away from the massive mesh the counter drops to 77.000.000 tris.
Shouldn’t is show the correct tris number of about 6.500.000 and at looking away almost 0 tris?
What the f**k is going on with this? What is is counting?
