hi, I know it’s a preview version of the engine and that there may be bugs and all that, but I had to upgrade because of a problem I was having with 4.11 which is now sorted :). anyway the problem is, the startup movies, when I launch from editor to my android device the movies display perfectly. however I wanted to package my game show a friend what I’ve got so far and the startup movies don’t display, I know it’s not game breaking, but still. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I deleted the movies folder in my content folder and reimported the movies. I edited the defaultgame.ini to get rid of the lines that remove the videos. nothing seems to work. I don’t see why it works when launching from the editor but not in a packaged game. the video files are all mp4 at 1280x720 so it should be good right? is there some option I missed in the android or package settings to include the startup movies? its strange because when the game starts it delays for about the same amount of time as it would take to play the movies before launching into the menu. so maybe it’s something to do with the format? but if that was the case why does it work when I launch?
Also I tested the movies as startup movies in a blank paper 2d sidescroller project, and they worked, so there must be something I haven’t ticked somewhere
ok here’s what I’ve discovered after multiple packagings and installs. if you change the default game mode of the game, the startup movies won’t play on android, even if you change it back to the original settings the movies won’t play in a packaged game, so i’m guessing this is a bug and not something wrong on my end.
Hey L04D3D,
- What kind of video clips are you adding to your project?
- What types of devices are you using?
- Have you been able to reproduce this issue on 4.11.2 as well as 4.12.0 Preview 5?
- Can you show me a screenshot of your startup movie settings?
Please upload the error logs from the editor if there are any, as well as from the device.
- Attach your phone to the computer
- Go here: C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
- Open up Monitor.bat
- Launch the program and save the logs
If you cannot get Monitor.bat to open, please go to:
- C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\lib\monitor-x86
- Open up Monitor.exe
- Follow the instructions above
Make sure that you highlight all of the logs, because they do not save unless they’re highlighted.
Thank you!
