I am totally new guy here.
I am developer over 10 years (I start from board games long time ago) I am 33 years old.
I was used “stencyl game engine” which is cool for 2D games but is very limited.
Now I am on crossroad between Unreal and other game engines…
My problem is kwnoledge of real programming langues…Actually - I don`t like it at all! I like visual programming.
So now Blueprint seems like very powerfull Visual scripting system, the only problem is poor documentation and video tutorials. anyway my question is simple:
I am vey tired from freelancer jobs,I am looking for full-time. Is it possible for me to find full-time job in other country like blueprint programmer?
Any advice will be very helpful for me …Thanks in advance and regards to all
i’am in about the same situation as you are (except i was nt programmer, but tired of being a freelancer too )
what i can say is that the blueprint system is very powerfull (but be careful to stay tidy for optimisation…) and i m learning the engine since april (i have a few basis in C and Java that helps a bit ) and i found lots of documentation and tutorials (on the forums, youtube, and personnal blogs from devs). and in a few mounth, with all that, i achieved to create a full working MP game. so i think you re a bit wrong when you re saying that there no much documentation, just hit the forums and you ll find lots of stuffs. for finding i can t say, cause i don t really know the market, but it seems that lots of indie are starting to use BP to prototype their game.
I agree your replay, thanks for it but lets be honest about Game Industry overall.
I am on crossroad between Unity and Unreal, even I start learning Unreal still I am thinking (am I on right way?) …
Unity is much more popular against Unreal but when you Say UNREAL ENGINE - they all say wow…amazing, wonderfull etc… but there not so much opened job positions for Unreal,I mean there are but you have more then double for Unity.
Personally I like to play every game made in UE, and every game made by unity is mostly garbage.
if you take a look over the internet there are million ppls who have same dilemma as me … “unity vs unreal” is real war out there… but I don`t know any person who work with UE ? where is community? why forum doesn’t work ? (
can’t agree with you more i started unity in february. but for the things i ve seen, most of games are for mobile, and are just simple remakes of famous games, with enforced add placement for money (not too far from reality here of course there are good project on unity too just kidding :)) but for now the forum are under maintenance, they will come back soon i think. what i instantly liked on ue4 community is the creativity, once the forum is back, try to take a look at the “Game Jams” threads, you ll see very fun stuffs there and if you can’t find solutions to your problems during dev, you have the answer hub that is pretty efficient (at my thought)
That`s the point,I am making mobile games but yes there are lot of remakes. If you are old freelancer you will know and why: India, pakistan,China etc… copy/paste masters they make noise at traffic. I HATE remakes, such I am creative person full of my own idea. I am from Serbia so you don’t need to suspect at my character such we get more then half medals in Rio this year ( just kidding ) Regards to you p.s. How can I send you pm?
