I just installed Unreal Engine 5, I am 17 and I really want to put some time and effort into an open world racing game if anyone could help me get started that would be amazing. I have almost no idea what I am doing but I do know all the file types and stuff like that I need for it. I have an idea and a thought for how big I want it to be what cars etc. Thank you to anyone that tries to help.
If you are serious about building your game, then I strongly suggest that you put the idea for your game to one side and first focus on learning how to make games by making very small simple games. This way you will build a solid foundation that will help you to design and plan your final driving game.
Youtube
There are many UE tutorial channels on Youtube, but be cautious of channels that claim to show you how to do things in just a few minutes. Look for channels that explain the how and why, not just tell you what to do - understanding the why and how will allow you to apply that knowledge in different situations (I learned this the hard way when I started a few years ago as I spent a lot of time following the monkey-see-monkey-do tutorials).
Courses
There are a number of sites offering online courses, see if they suit your learning style, but here are two options provided by Epic as example:
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/news/free-unreal-fellowship-games-course-hits-the-edc-for-a-limited-time
The Fellowship is an intense course made available for everyone for a limited time and includes weekly office hours to ask questions.
As you are 17, if it would help to have a certificate course on your college/university applications then you might like to consider this Coursera course.

Hope that helps
Also, here is a driving game template by Epic Games - it is quite old so you will need UE4 for it.
Have fun learning
