Star Quest on Steam

I know I don’t spend as much time over here as I did back in the day. Just been burned out really. But I am here today to thank this forum for helping me to learn UE. I know a lot of the time it was like pulling teeth lol. But, this forum was there for me during some really dark days.

Some of the most recognizable names during this journey were @Extrone
@Quetzalcodename
@ClockworkOcean
@Everynone
@SupportiveEntity
@Everynone
@RevOverDrive

Thank you all. And definitely thanks be to God for being there for me at times when I thought I couldn’t keep going.

My initial plan as most of you know was to try to make a Beat Em Up. Or a Beat Em Up template as it were… But that was a bit too ambitious honestly (wouldn’t be the first time in my life I bit off more than I could chew). But I did learn things. Many things. Not just about Beat Em Ups in General, but about Unreal Engine, about video game development and design. And life even as well… Overall, I have started over and stopped a BEU maybe 6 or 7 times, for many different reasons. I had a whole level loop twice (once early on and now currently). Once with 4 players simultaneous, once with full things on the ground like health and weapons etc. And that enemy movement behavior is a doosy, especially when you have multiple enemies on screen at once aka swarm logic and what not.

But what I settled on was actually something retro, a lot simpler, and like an early 80s arcade game. I call it Star Quest. It has the proverbial “DNA” of many classic arcade games and one early console game in particular.

I don’t know when it will ultimately release… or for how much You can go in the game’s Steam forum and read a pinned post I made about it.

Again, thanks every one for all the help learning the Engine through the years.
