Hello, I’m trying to create a house with wooden planks as floor, however, I keep getting these ugly squares, anyway to remove them?
Have you tried to build the lighting?
Yes, Build → Build lighting only right?
Most images that are ‘seamless’ still look like this when you repeat them over an area.
The simple way around it is to mix the image with itself in two different aspect ratios.
Using the same image twice(or more if necessary) with different X/Y repetitions - and lerping the results onto one another will eliminate the obvious ‘seams’ at the edges.
Just use a higher X than Y on one, and a higher Y than X on the other texture coordinate - and a bit of trial and error should get the results you want.
When you are working with materials where the details are important, you just have to make sure they ‘fit’ the surfaces you’re applying them to.
That or make them so that repetition just doesn’t matter.
eg.
Make a material using these.
The apparent different ‘ends’ of the planks makes it so that the repetition of the material isn’t a problem.
