How is Fortnite so old but they cannot figure out how to load Squads with 4 people if one person drops before or during Spawn Island? Developers have a full minute to find an additional team member. But it never happens.
If I wanted to play Duos or Trios, I’d play that but starting with a teammate count disadvantage is unnecessarily annoying and unfair.
That’s a fair point, and it’s definitely something many squad players have experienced.
Losing a teammate before the bus even launches can ruin the pacing and balance of a match—especially in higher-level or ranked lobbies. Having a fallback mechanic to fill the slot before the game starts (or even allowing late join during Spawn Island) could really improve the experience.
Even if a full rejoin system isn’t feasible, just giving squads the ability to backfill pre-drop seems like a practical middle ground.
You’re right—when we queue as a squad, we expect to play as a squad. Hopefully, Epic can explore ways to make this more consistent in the future.
