Sprites or bilboards with materials have no shadows in UE5

On my scene in ue4, trees were placed and after the transition I noticed that shadows disappeared in the distance.

After a couple of tests, I realized that the problem is in the latest LOD4, where the sprite is used.

I started a new clean project on UE5 and migrated the tree there and again LOD4 has no shadow.

If you do not put the material on the sprite, then the shadow will be from the sprite, but as soon as I put my material, it disappears.

Disabling Lumen and VSM does not give any results. Has anyone encountered this?

2 years later - guess I’ll keep googling how to give sprites shadows. Do I really need to batch process them through photoshop? :xray: :axe:
