Hi, I am trying to attach meshes to splines using splinesweep in motion design mode. For example I need to animate a mesh extrude, ie extruding an ellipse along a spline like a growing vine. The spline sweep modifier seems like the perfect method. But when i take an ellipse and add the spline sweep modifier the resulting mesh refuses to attach to the spline. It’s either the wrong scale or in the wrong position or rotation. Is this modifier useless or am I using it incorrectly?
Upon investigating this a bit the best thing to do is to use the ‘scale start’ and ‘scale end’ parameters instead of messing with the scale of the object itself. Also, setting up a cloner with Layout set to Spline does the same job and enables you to use effectors and other animatable values.
