Hi everyone,
I was searching for an answer regarding surround sound speaker setup. After much research unfortunately I couldn’t find any, so here my question:
I’m using the internal sound card (Realtek on Asus board) but I can’t get the rear and center loudspeakers to work in UE4.
Using the VLC player with a 5.1 wav file all loudspeakers are playing correctly. But after importing the dedicated mono files *_fl, *_fr, *.fc…etc (sound is imported correctly as 5.1 file) I can only hear left and right loudspeakers. Same is true for mono files from actors in the scene…
Am I missing something? Do I need to initialize the loudspeaker setting in UE4? Or do I have a driver problem with Realtek? Or anything else?
Due to the nature of the audio file, and the 7.1 surround sound headset we’re using for testing, I have had a bit of difficulty discerning which channels may or may not be playing. I did speak with one of our audio engineers though, and he let me know that there was a known surround sound issue which caused some channels to not play, and has already been addressed for the final 4.4 release.
The 4.4 release should be occurring soon, I suggest for you to test your issue again when it is released, and let us know if the problem is or is not resolved. If not, I’ll pick up the investigation.
On the plus side, while I was investigating your issue yesterday, I stumbled upon a crash which we are currently working to address for the release.
