Sparrow Country Project Reveal

Sparrow Country Project Reveal

Hello world!

I am happy to finally share a project i have been working on for a while!

A small bird game, a blend between several genres, mostly Adventure and Racing with mild hints of RPG. The project only took 4 years to build to this point. Many third party asset packs were used, big shout outs to all of them, a list can be found in the links below. The music in the latest release now featuring Arno Cyreus providing some retro lounge and racing vibes.

Sparrow Country was released as early access in February, and it remains in early access. I was very quiet about the launch, since the game had stability issues and messaging wasn’t always very clear throughout the game.

Releasing early access has worked out marvelously since it has helped me track down issues I alone would not have been able to do! Now, the game is stable, and much more robust thanks to amazing feedback from the community (and my dad who has been lock step all the way!)!

I am happy to finally share Sparrow Country more openly! Thank you everyone for helping out on the forums! 10k+ posts read, 1.4K threads in my lifetime on the forums, 10 years now! that’s a lot of information, and influence that these forums have provided, so huge thank you for all your help getting me to bring this game to life :sparkling_heart: ! Huge shout out to Epic for allowing me space to make this possible!

This image was captured while racing a bot and using photography mode (experimental feature) to find the right angle and lighting. I might document how to use that feature in a follow up document in the future if the community has some desire for it.

The game now features a quick play Arcade mode to jump into a track and race some Sparrows. A free demo is available that currently opens up the entire game.

It is recommended to play with a friend 2 players using peer-to-peer. Arcade mode technically allows up to 8 but has only been tested with 2 and so the recommendation there remains 2, however if anyone is feeling adventurous I wouldn’t stop you from trying. But be aware peer-to-peer may not handle larger numbers of players well. The game is also graphically intense and so it is recommended to use a good graphics card.

If you get a chance to play, I really hope you enjoy the experience!

Please let me know what you enjoy most from the game! All feedback from the community is massively appreciated!

Fly true Sparrow!
