Unreal stores the source file path on every imported asset. Reorganise the raw art folders or hand the project to another machine, and those paths all go stale at once. Reimport stops working across the project, and the property is read only on a sub object the Bulk Editor can’t reach.
Source Link is a UE 5.8 editor plugin that finds every broken source link, works out where each file went and writes the corrected paths back.
It runs as a commandlet. The first run is a preview that writes an HTML report of every missing file. Point it at where the art lives now with -NewRoot and the report shows what it would write and why. Nothing changes until you add -Apply. Candidates are matched by filename and scored on how much of the old folder path still agrees, and a match on the MD5 recorded at import is decisive.
Built and run on UE 5.8 on Windows only. The plugin code was written with AI tools. It’s $14.99 on itch.
