Source length in a static light isn't working

Yes, it only effects the reflection

If I can’t affect the length, do I just make a bunch of lights for the length of the mesh then?

That’s the only way to do it currently until we get more light types.

is there a limit to how many static lights you can have?

Not for static lights, but be aware that the default light setting is Stationary where there is a limit.
