Source controls is disabled but still keeps showing "Contacting Server"

I had source control enabled for a while, but recently wanted to disable it in the editor so in the drop down in the bottom right I set it to none and disable source control, yet it still constantly shows “Contacting Server” down there in the corner. Any ideas how to fix this and keep it completely disabled in editor?
