Source code not really on GitHub?

Epic Games · GitHub reports 0 public repositories…

That’s because it is not public. You have to pay for a subscription to gain access.

The source code is not public, you must be an active subscriber to download the latest source code. If you are - you may need to configure your github account on your profile page on https://www.unrealengine.com/

Hey,

You need to link your Github account to EpicGames. Follow the instructions here and you’ll see the private repository:

Best,

Ben Halliday

I have my username configured however I cannot see the source. Do I need a non-free version of Github account?

You do not need a paid Github account. Have you followed the instructions noted above?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I have configured my username as mentioned above, assuming it’s my username and not my email login address.

Free versions of github accounts should work fine (mine is free). You may need to log out and log back in to github.

I do use the free Github account. It shouldn’t be the e-mail, no. In my case it’s “Nanoxin” written in the account-tab. I’m not entirely sure about capital letters and that stuff though. Doesn’t work yet? (I’m assuming you are a paying/active member of the unrealengine program)

My username is same as here, no caps or anything. No luck. The URL that I see in the screenshot is https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine which returns 404 for me and I’m logged in. I am subscribed as of yesterday.

There may have been a misfire, tomkrizan is not listed as a member on the github page for access. Try clearing the github account name on your unreal engine profile, save, then change it to tomkrizan, and see if it works.

That would be my only idea for the moment as well, let us know if it worked

No luck there, but I tried with a secondary github account and it now works. Thanks for the replies everyone.

It doesn’t appear tomkrizan is a user on github. https://github.com/tomkrizan is a 404.

After I’ve entered my GitHub username into account preferences field I was supposed to, I’ve immediately gained access to the source. So, yes, it should work fine for us paying customers.

Seems to be something unique to my tomkrizan username then, thanks for looking. I don’t think I’m banned or anything…

Yes you need to link your Github username, then you’ll find you have access.

I think that will be great that you put an aditional step: you have to receive an invitation in github from EpicGames organization to join it.

ue4 gone free, is it still necessary to be paid member of epic games to get source code from github ?
