Sound effect attenuator socket attach to skeletal mesh

Hi everyone,

Trying to attach an attenuator for sound effect of footstep to socket to foot of character.
The reason for this is I have a BP function where you can adjust the distance for the follow camera.
So if you are far away from the character I want the sound to be softer and louder if the follow camera moves in closer.
I get the play sound notifiers to work in the animations that is fine.
But it wont let me attach attenuators to sockets.
Is it even possible?
