Souls like game

So I am new to Unreal and always wanted to create a souls like game. I first just felt like copying from youtube but a lot of tutorials don’t have what I want. I tried sticking to a single playlist on youtube, but if I wanted to add something of my own from another author, I didn’t know how and was afraid to break everything. Now finally my brain understood that I need to learn. I already know the basics of the engine (navigation) and went through the blueprint tutorials of SmartPoly of 2023-2024. I don’t know where to go next unfortunately. I mean I want to be able to create character movement, combat, magic and bosses, advanced inventory system( not a simple one), quests etc. (basically what a souls like game has). I understand that its not a 1 day progress, but can anyone recommend where I can go now?

I could recommend you a very incredible YouTube channel which just recently started a souls like series. But since you mentioned you don’t wanna follow a single tutorial playlist, I think you already know what I was gonna say. Which is a smart choice btw, just like you said, everyone has their own unique styles on doing things. And copy pasting from many different tutorials would indeed leave a big mess behind as the organization of all those weren’t planned beforehand. Your current state seems perfect to me for starting your project. When you’re stuck, you can search it up, and implement what’s needed on the way. Since you said that things you’re looking for aren’t included in the basic tutorials, you’re gonna have to grasp the concept on your researches rather than copying. But that’s a good thing in the long run, because you’ll develop your own style and perspectives on different topics this way. In conclusion, where you should go now is the editor! :muscle:

Thank you for the reply :pray::pray: Very useful. Gonna start right away. Can you also include the youtube channel you were about to mention? Just in case he has resources for me to learn some systems for my game in the future.

Here you go :innocent:
