Ran into a new problem, which I can't seem to find a solution for inside of Twinmotion. For some reason, random parts of my model will appear to be glowing even though the material is the same across other parts of the model that share that same material.
The original model is built in Sketchup (2023 Pro), and I've inspected each problem area there to make sure the materials are all the same (on both faces). So far the only fix I've found is redrawing each group element that has this problem, but it seems to be affecting nearly 30% of my model so I really don't want to have to go through all that.
Inside Twinmotion (2023.1.2), I've looked at the material to see if anything is problematic, and it's all using the basic parameters with the change I've made being that I've toggled on 2-sided. Even applying a new material from the TM library causes it to either continue to have this glow, or it becomes shiny black.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have found a fix for it?
I have experienced this when exporting in the Unreal Datasmith format from Vectorworks. I went back to exporting in C4D format and have not had the issue. So maybe you can try a different format.
Not sure what to do here. I created a new Sketchup Model and now the model shows up but when I try to select the material with the TM Eyedropper nothing happens. And yes now it appears to have a glow. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon.
Hello! I have exactly the same problem and found a solution!
The problem seems to be the link with datasmith, I personally got the error in the furniture, so I removed the furniture from my general model (linked with datasmith) pasted them into a different sketchup file and imported them into twinmotion as geometry, without the direct link.
I can relate, it happens in almost every project I work on. It's erratic and I can't find a pattern of causes. It's also the same exact issue that happened me on Unreal Engine 5.2! So EpicGame should try their best to work on this.
However, the fast solution to me was ditching the datasmith export method (being that through the dt file or Sync) and go for the .obj (for context I work mostly on SketchUp for the modeling)
So far, I haven't been able to find a quick fix either in Twinmotion or Sketchup.
Through trial and error the only fix was going back into Sketchup and remodeling the entire group/component that has the surface/material issue. Exploding and regrouping, deleting and redrawing a surface, or applying a new material does not fix whatever is causing the bug.
Once I have some more spare time, and if this hasn't been patched yet, I'm hoping to go back and troubleshoot more.
I've had the issue where I could not select objects. I found that I could spin around and select the backside or some other surface of the object. Another reason I went back to C4D format from Datasmith.
That sounds like you just need to make the material 2-sided. Don't know what causes it to happen with some materials or faces, but that has been an issue since Twinmotion was in beta.
I've just made it part of the routine when importing a model to Twinmotion to either do a quick fly around to check or go into the materials palette and mark everything as 2-sided.
Making the material 2-sided didn't help in my case. There probably have been a couple of updates since I last tried the Datasmith export/import, just issues I had previously with it.
