Hi to all… i’m learning a bit about character animaitons and related import due the mixamo characters release for UE4…
I managed to import them into my project and to set them as player controlled… but I have several questions about characters animation and relale import.
first I want to know if is there a way to use character animations form a character to another …infact I subsrcriped to mixamo and imported and rigged one my custon character and give an animation to it …and I want to know if is there a way I can swap this animation to another character with same bone like sample mixamo characters for UE4
In my test i managed to redone the gnam gnam style import example workflow and it works fine but what I dont understand is why I must drag and drop into my scene animation sequence file and model…
basibcally I dont know exactly which files must be used to set an animated character into the scene to work properly
and I want to know how can I set a specific animation sequence for another character??
and Ue4 support only fbx animations or can I downlaod bvh animations I found for free on the net too??
when you use a fuse/mixamo character in general the skeleton rig has extra names on the bones which make it hard outside mixamo to use/re/target other anims.
if you want to use other bvh files then you need to decide this at the start due to the export naming of the rig, you can import your fuse/mixamo character into any 3d program that supports fbx or collada then you can import the bvh file and re-target it to your character then export to UE4 via fbx
as for using the character and anims in UE4 it’s best to watch a few of the Epic videos on the third person game
not really sure what you want to do here, are the anims for a cutscene or actual in game player anims
just uploading another video which might help you on re-targeting the mixamo anims in UE4.
ok if the anims that come with the pack are not enough then you’ll have to add more, you can do this by importing the character into your 3d program and using bvh files, UE4 doesn’t support importing or editing of bvh files
some 3d programs add extra names to the bones when you import a skeletal mesh, this is known for blender not sure about the others
