Some assets does not have the orange outline and I cannot place new assets or foliage on them, help!

I spent the last 6 hours trying to resolve this issue I have, some of my assets, when I select them, don’t have the orange outline. I have no idea what this could mean, they are static, and their settings, as far as I am concerned (being a noob though), are also the same. I cannot place new assets on the ones without the outline, as well as foliage, I also can’t place it. Please help, I just started in unreal and this is really a barrier for me right now, I want to resolve that. I have no idea what could be causing it and how to fix it!

I would start a new map. Failing that, a new project. And watch for what happens just before it starts happening again.

I did that, well, almost. I just removed every asset that didn’t select with the outline (and what was the most suprising, there just wasn’t even a RULE, like, the same asset that didn’t have the outline worked just fine when I dragged it from the content drawer again.)

Is that normal to solve things in unreal by just, reopening the project or scraping it and starting a new one?

It’s not normal, no. But it’s good to have it as a backup.

It sounds like you’re quite new to the engine ( excuse me if that’s wrong ). If so, there could be a lot of things you’re clicking or doing or etc that are causing this. I have no idea what, but it could be…

Yeah, I am completely new when it comes to the engine, but I have quite a bit of experience with 3D in general, I know blender pretty well and worked with it for a longer while.

But, even with the experience, clicking like a monkey (which can sometimes happen when you are tired and frustrated) could’ve caused this. As I am going forward with the new assets, making sure all of them have the outline, everything seems to be working alright
