[SOLVED] Windows 10 upgrade - Can not start RC anymore

Hi,
Microsoft has unfortunately decided for me that my PC had to be upgraded to windows 10 :frowning: and not I can not launch RealityCapture anymore.

I get 2 errors:

  • The program can’t start because MFPlat.DLL is missing from your computer
  • The program can’t start because MFReadWrite.dll is missing from you computer

I have uninstalled RC and reinstalled, but still get the same error.

I am running Windows 10 Pro N and I have installed the “Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10” pack.

Please help

Hi Richard Garsthagen

When you install the W10, it changes completely the registry and many of its values needed not only for RC, it is a system REINSTALL even though they say it is an upgrade.

When you activated the license on the PC, did you set it to end of the license date or renew every, say, 14 days?

P.S.: Windows 10, like all previous versions, need “maturity” at least one year before it is ready for “stable” version because of compatibility issues related to new stuff implemented for hardware and software…

so problem found.

If you have win10 N version, you need to install windows media foundation.

Thank you for the update on the issue.

I have the same problem on Windows Server 2012 R2, “MFReadwrite.dll is missing from your computer”, any ideas how to fix it ?

Hi Dmytro
Have you installed the Media feature pack for your Windows? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3010081
