Hey im new here and to unreal, just wondering if its possible in the editor to add bones for retargetting the rig. I imported a new skeleton and wanted to add the basic animations for now. But the only bones this model has is head, eyes and main body. How can i add the shoulders, feet and everything else. Thanks in advance
It’s not just the bones. You need weights on your vertices as well (weightpainting). If you would use UE4 animations from the templates, the starter pack or market place then I would even recommend to put your mesh in a restpose that is very similar to the UE4 mannequin to avoid issues with retargetting. So you have to use a 3D app like Maya or Blender. Both could do everything you need (add bones, weightpaint, change pose).
