So when I export a static mesh

When I export a static mesh from UE4 engine, like things I have from the marketplace, the fbx file i get when opened in 3ds is missing materials and textures and the such, how do I fix this?

Thanks

You cant import materials into a 3d program, just the textures -> the easiest way to do that is to export everything separately. So export the mesh as a fbx file + the texture as png/… After that just assign the texture in your 3d program (so that it gets displayed on the UV)

Did that and it looks like this, all *****, ? cheers and thanks

cheers and thanks for your help, that is

You just have to use the alpha channel in your UE4 material, then it will be displayed right

Hmm ok so I got both of the Textures, and the material just in case, and then exported the fbx static mesh, put them all in the same folder so 3DS would read them and still same problem. What am I missing? Thanks so much this is something I have wanted to learn for a long time

Ah sorry forget my upper answer -> you will have to set up the material in your 3d tool. It wont read the material setup from the UE4! -> unfortunately I’m a 3ds noob (blender user ), so I cant help you with the material setup ( just search on google for it)
