I sent yo a PM in the forum a few days ago with a download link for a project. Follow the instruction in the message and you should see the effect immediately and should be able to debug the situation I imagine
Hi ,
Thank you for reminding me. I took another look and you are correct, that specific landscape received an error that caused the collision to need to be reset. Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce this outside of this and the “RecreateLandscapeCollision” fixes the error completely. Without a reproducible case on another landscape, I will not be able to do much to assist. More than likely the error was related to the visiblity masking being used. For now, I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes. If the error appears again after using “RecreateLandscapeCollision” or if you are able to find consistent reproduction steps in a clean, blank project with no additional content, please post here and I’ll be happy to take another look.
It took a while to appear again after I redid the whole map. My main workflow was to place the houses etc and then add foliage. It was after the foilage was there, with warnings that the lightmap of the plants was too large and I played with the lighmap size in the foliage objects and several rebuilds, that the error appeared when I wanted to place an additional object
Unfortunately I believe there is no do-this-do-that procedure to make this error appear. I think it has something to do with memory overload on big levels, perhaps only when other levels are conneted through a streaming setup, not sure.
If I find out more I will let you know
Hi ,
Have you had any further luck in determining what steps I can take to recreate this on my end?
Hi , no, I havent had it happen again, but I am done with the big map, only make small changes here and there, I am now focused on other work for a few months.
The way I did it was to sculpt the landscape, cut the hole, then I placed several objects like the houses and lastly covered large areas of the map in forest. I also have some other objects than just grass in the grass mechanism, I don’t know if that matters.
After I was done with the forest sections and tried to place another object it happened. I couldn’t get rid of it at the time so I redid the whole map, making frequent backups this time and while I was redoing the map it happened again now and then and I reverted to the last backup, but I can’t say what exactly triggered it.
I did it with a small test level too and couldn’t really get it to show that drastically but I had moments where I dragged an object across the landscape and it would fly against the camera over some spots and then go back to snapping to the landscape when I dragged it on. There too, I painted foliage so I’m pretty sure it must have something to do with the foliage painter, but I cant say for sure
Hi ,
Thank you for the update. For now, I will mark this as answered for tracking purposes. If the error occurs again and you are able to reproduce it, please post the steps here and I’ll be more than happy to take another look.
