Smooth animation transitions in sequencer

I feel like this should be a simple question but I cant find an answer anywhere. How can I make smooth animation transitions in sequencer? This should be simple right? I looked at unreal sequencer content (subway tappy chicken fight example) and Epic never used more than one animation per character, per shot. So that was no help.

Example of what I mean: I have a character and I assign an idle animation followed by a walk animation in sequencer. When this sequence is played the character goes through the idle animation and then snaps or pops into the walking animation. No smooth transition between the two. How do you make them transition smoothly?
