Small Team/ Big Title Challenge

**Working Title: Project 1

Description:**

I’m in the preproduction phase of an upcoming title and I’m currently making a trailer for it which will be used to start a fundraising campaign.

The game will released in episodes and the gameplay will be like if Telltale and Rocksteady had a child.

The story/script is ready and if you’re interested, I’ll send you the first episode.

Team Structure

There’s no structure. I expect everyone to share their creative ideas in all areas of game development.

Talent Required

I’m looking for people who can work both independently and as a team too.

If you’re the kind of person who sees game development as a job or just looking to make some quick money then please click the **** off this topic

I am a long-time 3d artist, and 3d painter, (digital mostly, i prefer selection-tool rather than traditional free-hand) and an Unreal Veteran. Also do music in spare time (Learned basics of Piano since age 6.) Own a Producer License for FL Studio w/ Novation Launchkey 49 MKII MIDI Synth (via USB dongle) and can link to SoundCloud Concept SoundTracks and other genre’s of(technically,) experimental urban beats, and some other general exercise instrumental tracks.

I see Games Dev as basically a hobby with much reward from sharing your creative works and getting enjoyment out of it, and a paycheck doesn’t hurt either… have numerous skills from hard-surface modelling+ texture/skin painting, Satellite-Assisted Heightmap Displacement modelling with and without NURMS Subdivision, advanced bones and bipedal animation and rigging, Unreal Engione mapping including Terrain, Landscapes, Foliage(both Dynamic + Interactive, and static) static mesh creation with textures/skins on Multi/Sub-Object Materials Multi-Mat-ID multi-mesh skins, and HLOD experience, Modular and BSP-based game level design and structural adaptation, particle FX from scratch and using Royalty-Free images with multiple FX in Particle Systems with and withjout triggers (generally, without, areused with “Play on GameStart”.) Also, as mentioned above, Music and Foley experience,

Basically all areas of Dev i have done, also including Prject LEad on Total Conversion Modifiction in 2l3/2k4, concept 3d models for Public Relations, and some advertising for marketing the Total Conversion Mod, and word-of-mouth for other projects.

Sound Good. Just like me, you’re a jack of all trades except you’re better. I started as an audio engineer/musician.

I’d like to know what your favorite games are.

I see game development as a job (mostly because it is) if you want a bunch of people to dik around and only do what they want, then I fear your “funding campaign” may have a shaky start. As for recruitment you’ve offered no title and a vague description that’s hardly going to help your cause. When you recruit offering no pay, you need to pitch your game in some way - as “royalties” are based on the success of your game.

Well, i started with Tom Clancy’s style of Military, para-military FPS games, and had Gran Tourismo (1 and i bought 2 for a cousin) when i had PS One, so racing, Military sim’s… The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint seem like great examples of “fun to play but not competitively” games for me (i have been granted a pass to the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Private Technical Test, but am under NDA to not discuss it.)

So those are basically what i know from “Modern PC Gaming” but i played many, many games over almost 20 years, i am not a big sci-fi guru tho, and while i Can model Sci-Fi stuff, good direction i would need to make it “Authentic” as far as adherence to the game i am modelling/skinning for’s style

I don’t wanna be a hater, but if it’s not your “cup of tea” you can’t really teach Every member of the forums who is recruiting, to pitch a “AAA Title Quality Marketing Presentation” … i see this is many, many Recruitment Topics, since you’re aware of the meaning of Royalty, as i am, it’s best to either be interested in making a contact (It Is 2020, almost, after all) and if you aren’t satisfied with an Offering, i would recommend just passing it by, no amount of ‘herding’ is going to change the overall number of ‘vague and incomplete’ Offerings, at least not per capita in these forums, because a new noob joins pretty much every day. Not hating, my $.02.

I know it * Can be a Job to dev*, in all honesty, a Mod like Insurgency, if it was underadvert’d. and never got to Mod status on HL2 and Valve’s Radar, they wouldn’t be popular, pretty much, at all at the moment. I prefer to hear someone out rather than barf the generic “you know you need content before you can do anything” type of Mr. Rogers advice-lines, lol again not hating i don’t find vague descriptions of Offerings to be annoying, ironically, when a do-gooder posts that “samey know-it-all” advice on every topic not provided by a Full Company, even when it’s different members, it is more annoying than it has to be.

Yeah exactly. I’m recruiting to create something that we can pitch and If I had a triple AAA budget already, I wouldn’t recruit on a forum.

I’m not gonna share everything here either and I have provided more than enough information to have a basic idea of what the project is about.
If someone wants more info I’ll give all the details in private.

You can throw around the term AAA all you want, but that has nothing to do with anything I said. And by pitch I meant pitching your Proof of concept to the people you wish to recruit not some alpha stage of a fund campaign. You don’t have to share everything, but you’ve shared nothing. But anyway, take my advice or don’t, read the recruit template or don’t - the balls in your court to promote your idea not mine.

You do concept art? I’m more than happy to send you my sh*t then you can show me what a real proof of concept is.

You can tell I don’t have much professional experience but I don’t believe in start small grow big and I’m willing to learn and take criticism as long as it helps.

I don’t think you meant any harm but since you made it clear I suck, why don’t you offer your help and we create something together?

I don’t think your suck, I just think your recruitment effort is a little weak. You just need a better description on your game idea and style like…

Story: Adventures of a blah who has to find blah in order to blah etc. To state “if you’re interested I’ll send you the first episode” without saying anything about the idea in the first place won’t get any interest as there is nothing yet to establish interest.
Visual Style: realistic/stylised 2D/3D etc.
Music and sound: rock/orchestral/Techno.
Gameplay: FFP/RTS/RPG MMO/SP etc
Technical: Have you got collaborative software like Perforce/PlasticSCM etc. If not how are you going to work in a team and pass files around.
Communication: How will your team communicate ideas and questions.

This is the setup for the positions required (not everyone is a jack of all trades)

And on that, you may want to define what’s required to produce your game so potential developers can think (hey, I can do that) rather than state “I expect everyone to share their creative ideas in all areas of game development.” listing the visual style is going to give ppl reading your recruitment thread some idea. I know personally if a project is stylised I go elsewhere because I’m not that sort of artist and I would never pretend (it saves myself and the recruiter time). You don’t need a structure (
But you actually do
) and so you don’t have to list off positions but at least state what the game is so potential staff can understand what needs to be done.

A bit of transparency goes a long way. I hate making my art and ideas public but it’s essential in this game.
