I recently saw Slow West and fell in love with the film and its heartfelt plot. My brother and I decided to recreate the exterior of Rose and John Ross’s house.
This was modeled in Autodesk Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Unreal Engine 5.1 with Lumen.
Greetings, @omarrrlittle; I hope you’re doing well! Thank you for sharing your lovely fan art environmental recreation of Rose and John’s house from “Slow West” with us here in the forums. These screenshots are phenomenal, and I can tell each asset has been delicately developed and rendered in the highest quality, thanks to your attached Artstation link!
Admittedly I haven’t seen the movie, but the trailer revealed it might be worth the watch.
Wow! It’s like you placed your hands inside Slow West, plucked the house, and placed it inside UE! Captivating work! The quality of your assets is impeccable!
How were you able to recreate the weathervane so accurately and distinctly? How did you calculate the size so that it isn’t relatively too large or too small?
Thank you so much for the comment! We saw some behind the scenes photos of the house and did some rough calculations with the unreal mannequin and that gave us our scale!
WAIT! So the director of “Slow West” saw your incredible fan art and was impressed? That’s fantastic news! Congratulations, and thanks for letting us know! I definitely have to watch it now.
